The Route des étalons celebrates its 15th edition this year. This route didn’t need so many years to become a fixture in the diaries of breeders, and more broadly in those of thoroughbred enthusiasts. Seeing in the flesh the stallions who could cover your mares, admiring the greatest French breeding farms, meeting people, exchanging ideas: the Route des étalons charts its own course, against the tide of an era where the virtual can take up too much space. To accompany you on this delightful journey, we have designed a guide combining essential technical information with the historical background of the stud farms that will welcome you. A route that is anchored… and inked. Enjoy reading, and above all enjoy your discoveries on 17 and 18 January!

Friday 17 January 2025, 9am. The starting signal for the 2025 Route des étalons is given with the opening of the first stud farms taking part in this new edition. This is the launch of two days of visits, meetings and discoveries along the Normandy roads (and not only!). Two days during which the owners and managers of stud farms will present their stallions and the places where they are housed in the best possible conditions, because conviviality and professionalism are undoubtedly the key words of the RDE.

You will (re)discover magnificent sites and a stallion roster that is constantly improving. Some of you have chosen to travel alone on the Normandy roads, others with friends, and others still are taking advantage of the transport organised by France Galop or foreign operators.

You will have noticed that, in response to many requests, this year the RDE is taking place on Friday and Saturday (and not Saturday and Sunday). We hope that this will meet with your approval.

Finally, I would like to thank the stud farms which, once again this year, have responded in large numbers to our call to participate in the RDE, without them obviously nothing would be possible. Thank you also to our partners, both long-standing and new, who contribute to the promotion of this event. Thank you to you, visitors, breeders, owners, trainers, brokers…, for your loyalty.
