H.H THE PRESIDENT’S CUP – AL ZAHIR ON THE ROAD TO THE KAHAYLA CLASSIC

ABU DHABI (UAE), 11th FEBRUARY 2018 Gr. I PA- 5 year olds and over- 2,200m- AED 2,500,000 Back on the turf, Al Zahir (Madjani) was imperial in the H.H. The President’s Cup (Gr. I PA), winning by just over four lengths in front of two Jean de Roüalle-trained horses, Ziyadd (Bibi de Carrère) and Dahham (Mahabb). The podium of this prestigious race was therefore 100% "FR". Faucon du Loup (Darweesh) led the race, while Al Zahir waited for his opportune moment in behind the leaders. When he was 700 meters from the finish, Jim Crowley let Al Zahir open up and the eventual winner eased up on to the lead. He then pulled away in the final 400 meters to win handily. Ziyadd and Dahham fought it out behind him for second and third, with Chaddad (Mared Al Sahra), who had travelled over from the Sultanate of Oman, took fourth place. Last year’s winner and fifth in the prep in January, Loraa (Mawood) didn’t show his usual form and finished mid-division.
